Island Queen Ferry to Martha’s VineyardFalmouth residents and visitors alike have something to look forward to this May. It marks the restart of the Island Queen's services. She’s a beautiful, passenger cruise ship complete with an onboard snack bar and comfortable seating area. Each year, she runs daily between Falmouth and Martha’s Vineyard. If you are looking to climb aboard this spring and summer, here’s what you need to know:

This particular ferry to vineyard trip is very popular among Massachusetts visitors and locals. And the staff doesn’t accept advance reservations. So arriving at Falmouth Harbor at least 45 minutes before the ship’s departure is paramount. You’ll also want to make sure that you bring travelers checks or cash with you, as they don’t accept plastic of any kind.

Don’t worry, there are places to grab a bite to eat and a cup of joe located nearby. Among them are The Flying Bridge and the Windfall Market. The Flying Bridge serves lunch and dinner whereas the market features an in-house bakery and prepared foods. Thus, you can sit-down to a nice meal or grab prepackaged grub and go. Both venues are located on Scranton Avenue, which is where you’ll find one of the ferry’s two parking lots. The other lot and the arrival/departure pier are located less than a 5 minutes’ walk away on Falmouth Heights Road.

When the ferry arrives in Martha’s Vineyard, you’ll find yourself in Oak Bluffs. The drop-off/pick-up area is located at the Circuit Avenue Extension. That’s where you’ll find us. Just look for numbers 12 and 31. Once you arrive at our Oak Bluffs location, our A-A Island Auto Rental staff can provide you with a well maintained, attractive and comfortable rental vehicle as well as directions to some of the area’s hot spots. After you’re done sightseeing, just return the vehicle and hop back onto the Island Queen for an enjoyable trip back to Falmouth.
