Taverns

There are plenty of places to stop in for a beer, a cozy atmosphere, incredible ocean views and the best seafood in the area. Here’s a sampling:

The Newes is considered as cozy as taverns can be. Nestled inside the Kelley House in Edgartown, this famous Colonial pub offers rich history and a mix of American and British pub favorites. Try their famous Fish & Chips, and onion rings to rave about! The Newes offers an impressive selection of quality New England draft beers.

Sharky’s Cantina now offers two locations, and the one in Edgartown now has a pool table for the perfect tavern atmosphere. This is a great place to have a cocktail, pick up souvenirs, and also take the family for a dinner out. They boast over 50 menu items under $10. You’ll find everything from nachos and wings to chimichangas and more!

The Wharf Pub & Restaurant is an Edgartown classic. Live music, lobster burgers and fries topped with clam chowder—how can you go wrong? You can savor all the good food and drinks in this rustic, casual eatery. Their linguine and clams is considered the best on the island!

The Square Rigger is THE place for really scrumptious seafood—from boiled lobster to baked stuffed shrimp! It’s a local favorite, with great ambience and plenty on the menu for non-seafood eaters as well.

Cafés & Eateries

Lucky Hank’s boasts an array of homemade comfort food in a cozy setting. From chicken pot pie to lobster deviled eggs, you’re sure to find some favorite mouth-watering dishes. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant and café is the place to enjoy a nice brew or glass of wine, and you won’t want to leave before you’ve tried one of their homemade desserts.

Henry’s offers fine dining in the historic Harbor View Hotel. Known for their inspired cuisine, this restaurant offers lobster tacos, yellow-fin tuna and creative dishes like cornmeal fried oysters. If you’d like to enjoy views of the Edgartown Lighthouse while you dine, this is the place with the food and views to really transport you.

The Grill on Main is an upscale, yet casual, eatery, offering a variety of gourmet dishes. Specializing in Italian-American fare, The Grill cuisine includes: Lobster Turnover with Shrimp and Lemon Cream Sauce, Sauteed Veal Scallopini Marsala, and lighter dishes such as a Grilled Prime Burger with Cheddar and Baked Mac & Cheese with Grilled Shrimp.
