When to go. You’ll find plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels open year-round on the island. So the time you choose to go depends on what you’re looking for in a vacation. Do you mind crowds? Do you prefer warm or cool weather? What activities do you like to do? Are you on a tight budget?

When the weather starts to warm up in spring, you can find many discounts available at island hotels. If you don’t mind a chill in the air, and even winter weather, there are even more discounts in the fall and winter seasons. Some people also prefer these times to avoid crowds. As you can imagine, summer is the most popular time to visit, with July and August the prime tourist months on Martha’s Vineyard. You’ll find the largest crowds on the Fourth of July and Labor Day.
